A Better Chance of Clinton & the Mohawk Valley is affiliated with A Better Chance, Inc., a national, non-profit, academic program that has been serving high school students from all over the country since 1963.

The mission of National A Better Chance rests on a single goal: to substantially increase the number of well-educated young men and women of color capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society. One part of National ABC’s mission statement is to “provide educational opportunities to students of color with the talent and potential to excel academically through their recruitment and placement into some of the nation’s most outstanding secondary schools.” A Better Chance of Clinton & the Mohawk Valley, founded in 1972, is one of 22 community school ABC programs located throughout the country. The mission of community school programs is to provide the housing, education, and nurturing these students need in order to succeed academically, socially, and personally, and to go on to the colleges of their choice.
