Hello! My name is Dayna Campbell (she/her) and I am the ABC Clinton Resident Director. Most of my family settled in Bronx or Mount Vernon, NY where I am from after immigrating from Jamaica. I moved upstate after attending the Dalton School for 12 years to attend Colgate University where I graduated with honors in Educational Studies and a minor in Sociology . As an undergraduate student, I was deeply involved in student activism and engagement. To name a couple of highly impactful experiences I served as a tutor for Let’s Get Ready in the Bronx, NY and the Outreach and Programming Coordinator of the ALANA Cultural Center.
Although being a Resident Director is new to me I was a Community Leader (RA) for several years and have supervised students who served as RAs and tutors. Additionally, the youngest of my two brothers, Dylan, has been under my care and living with me for the past three and a half years. Although I don’t experience life in the same ways, I understand many of the challenges that teenage men of color face in today’s world and do not shy away from difficult and necessary conversations.
I currently serve as the Assistant Director of Community Standards at Hamilton College and I am pursuing a Masters of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from Stony Brook University. I identify as a social justice educator and trained intergroup dialogue facilitator. I look forward to being a part of the ABC program and partnering with families to ensure that our scholars get the love, care, support, and guidance they need to continue to be the best versions of themselves and set themselves up for the future.
