Meet our Resident Directors — Liz Doherty and Travis Hill

Hi, we’re Liz Doherty and Travis Hill and we’re the ABC House Resident Directors!  We enjoyed our last two years, and are very excited to return to such a wonderful program. We knew living in the house would be an adventure, but could not have known how much of a positive impact the guys would have on our family.  It's not always easy, but we are thankful for the opportunity and hope we are helping the boys make the most of their time in Clinton.

The program first came to our attention through colleagues at our respective jobs serving as host families and board members.  Liz has worked at Mohawk Valley Community College for almost eight years and is responsible for new student programs, and teaches.  Travis has worked at Hamilton College for 14 years in Residential Life and currently is responsible for all of the campus dorms and new student orientation.  Prior to coming to the area, Liz had been in graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin and Travis had been at graduate school at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.  When we’re not working on our respective campuses, we are big fans of live music so have traveled all around the country seeing our favorite bands perform.  We hope that our shared and complementary experiences and interests can be used to support the boys in their time here and as they prepare for college.

We welcomed our first child, Bennett, in January of 2015 and he loves having a house full of big brothers. They’ve introduced him to a lot of music that’s great for dancing and always seem up for games and playing. We are now expecting our second son in December of 2016 and although Liz is significantly outnumbered, another guy will fit right in. To round out an already busy house we have a pet rabbit named Granger who loves naps and treats like grapes, and two dogs named Jordan and Pippen who are very sweet and welcome any attention they can get.

During our time in the house it has been a joy to see how Clinton and the surrounding community come together to make this program the best it can be for the boys.  We are honored to be a part of the family.
