Clinton ABC is successful because the local community has embraced the program, Clinton Central School is a committed partner, Hamilton College has provided resources and a safe home environment, and the ABC National Office has identified terrific young men who have earned “A Better Chance.”

Clinton Central High School

Clinton High School is a nationally recognized secondary school for about 420 total students in grades 9-12. Approximately 92% of its graduates go to college, 6% enter the workforce and 2% enter the military. Clinton is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and was selected as a school of excellence in the U.S. Department of Education’s School Recognition Program. In 2014, Newsweek ranked Clinton 232nd nationally and 23rd in New York State on its list of America’s Top Schools.

Village of Clinton

A Better Chance of Clinton and the Mohawk Valley is based in Clinton, New York, a picturesque community in Central New York. The closest city is Utica, about eight miles away, where there is easy access to New York City via bus and train (Amtrak).

Hamilton College

The Clinton ABC House is located on the edge of the Hamilton College campus. Our students have free access to the College’s facilities, including the library, fitness center, pool, field house and theatre. Hamilton College students serve as tutors during ABC study hours (Sunday to Thursday, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.)

A Better Chance National

Since 1963, A Better Chance has been opening the door to educational opportunities for thousands of young people of color in this nation. Its mission is to increase substantially the number of well-educated young people of color who are capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society.  ABC carries out its mission through its signature College Preparatory Schools Program (“CPSP”), which annually recruits, refers and supports about 500 A Better Chance Scholars at more than 300 of the nation’s leading boarding, day and public schools.
